Does it sometimes seem as if we’re all alone in this world?
Can we count on one hand the number of true friends we have?
Do we take the time to be with our friends and do they take the time to be with us?
Are we willing to travel the miles to visit each other?
Are we willing to pick up the phone and make that call?
Our work, the kids’ school, the family events, illness…you name it…it all can keep us away from those, we call friends.
Our busy lives don’t always allow for friendship.
But sometimes, it’s what we need the most in our lives.
What Else Can We Do?
Even in those moments that it seems as if nothing will ever get done, when the thought of a friend comes to mind….take just one moment and reach out to them.
Make that phone call. Text ‘hey there’, or write that email….
Just one kind word to let them know that they are not forgotten and that your friendship is still intact.
Take that moment to remind ourself and them that friendship is important and is valued.
It isn’t always easy to take the first step…we’ve moved on….miles and time have separated us…events have come and gone and it’s hard to catch up in just one moment.
But we don’t have to cover everything in that one moment….
We just need to say ‘hey there’, I’ll still right here!
The Bible Says
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
(Remember, Jesus laid down His life for us.)
You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Bible Trivia: Whom did God speak to as a friend in Exodus 33:11? “SO the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend…”
Bible Verse: A man who has friends must himself be friendly. Proverbs 18:24a
