September 24, 2017 – Falsely Coveted

Daily Challenges

Have we ever been accused of doing something we didn’t do?
Have we found ourselves trying to explain something we shouldn’t have to?
Has someone wrongly pointed their finger at us in acquisitions?
A false witness most certainty lacks the facts.

Have we ever desired something that belonged to someone else?
Have we ever envied what others have to enjoy?
Has our heart longed for another, who is someone else’s better half?
A coveted win, could actually be a loss.

What Else Can We Do?

It’s a terrible feeling when we are falsely accused.
We show the anger of having to defend ourselves.
And we have the need to vocalize the injustice of it all.

Defend our righteous position, honorably and decently.
When God is on our side, we will prevail.

It can be an aching feeling to desire what others have.
We know the pit in our stomach is there when we envy others.
And our hearts can be broken over a loss.

Be careful how we react to the fleeting moment.
Remember who we are in Christ.

The Bible Says

Exodus 20:3-17 The Ten Commandments

Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (The One and Only)
Thou shalt not make for yourself a carved image.
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord God in vain. (Sacred Name)
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. (Sunday Rest)
Honor your father and your mother. (Father and Mother)
Thou shalt not murder. (A Life Gone)
Thou shalt not commit adultery. (Our Vows)
Thou shalt not steal. (Stolen)
Thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor. (Falsely Coveted)
Thou shalt not covet your neighbor’s house.

Proverbs 21:28
A false witness will shall perish, but the man who hears him will speak endlessly.

Hebrews 13:5a
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have…

Bible Trivia: Who did God originally give the commandments to? (See Exodus 24:12) Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”

Bible verse: For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life. Proverbs 6:23
